Could anyone tell me can a body be removed from a grave by the person who owns the grave and due to many disputes and bad feeling feel its best this occurs. The person is not a relation and no money or nothing was signed by the person owning the grave. Can this coffin be dug up and that persons family bury her in their grave.. sorry know its confusing, just wondering does anyone know anything about this area, thanking you..

Exhumations in Ireland are only allowed under very limited circumstances and the courts are reluctant to allow them owing to the fact taht they take into account the deceased - check out the website www. fingalcoco.ie/environmentandwater/burialgrounds/exhumations/ for more info. There is a fee for this process but there is a requirment that then exhumation occurrs by the request of a direct FAMILY member. That in this case may cause a problem for you.

In the alternative, you could go to the priest/minister and explain that your burial plot was used to bury someone without your consent and he may offer an alternative plot in the grave yard.
