    Hi All

Not sure if this is the right place to post ....

Basically I have a windows 2003 server with 10 clients running XP. What I want to do is to restrict access to specific internet sites on some but not all client pc's. Does anyone know if this is possible within 2003 server or can anyone recommend software that can do this.

    [mod-edit] lets keep this polite

Are you looking to do this on a software or a hardware level? Hardware would be the best choice and in that case you could get a hardware based firewall router with built in browser restrictions, like a SonicWall.

OP I just had a quick google.

This seems to do the job. I'm sure how effective it is though, I've never used it before.

Ideally I would like to do this through software, and No I am not in charge of the IT for the Company but have been asked to do some research on this to try & find the best products.

setup reserved IP addresses on the DHCP server so the clients get the same address each time , makes rules easier

    squidnt as a proxy server

    create a wpad.dat text file
NB you have to edit it with wordpad and not notepad - because of the carrige returns or something
the format of the file is the same as proxy.pac
