Alcohol and Computer use....

An alcohol counselor I know was discussing how alcohol abuse was seriously on the rise in Ireland more so than in the past and she thought a lot of it was due to people spending lengthy sessions infront of their PC's while interacting with others via chat rooms, more so that just browsing for holidays. She had this whole theory on social interaction aspects of the modern society via PC's versus the old days of a beer while watching a bit of telly due to the accessabilty of the internet to all ages and peoples rather than the gamers and kids of the past.

This seems a pretty popular site so I thought I would ask here.

Do you drink (alcohol) while on the PC?

I like to drink while on the PC/Internet 106 votes

I personally prefer the use of class A drugs whilst surfing the intarweb. This week I've been mostly shooting up Heroin.

If it has been a busy day I will have a beer or two, listen to some music, write and post here. Come to think of it there have been a lot of busy days in the last while. ;)

i don't see a bottle of beer being different than a bottle of fizzy drink.

i'll easily have a couple of drinks on the computer and have no problem with that.

I find that hypothesis absurd. But then I've been using PCs as long as I've been able to walk and talk. Considering most Irish people would be adopting PCs later in their lives, I dunno: maybe.

It's using the PC after I come home from a night's drinking that I find gets me into most trouble.

From time to time, the typing gets a bit crap though and can take a while to write a few lines!

I think my thread in AH 2 weeks ago "Hey im here taking a **** in the pub toilet" is testiment to the below formula

Snyper + Mobile boards + beer
    __________________________ = fail
    \/ vodka x hours drinking

The odd time, usually chattin to peeps before heading out and having a few cans.
Otherwise If I just want the odd can whilst browsing the internet why not? No harm in it imo

I would have a few drinks when I come home from work to wind down, weather it be down the boozer, in a mates gaf, on the jacks or infrom of the pc.

I never drink alone. Drinking while talking to people you don't know over the interweb sounds preeetty depressing!

I drink about 70 units a week, so it's rather hard to avoid some alcohol/computer use overlap...

i dunno, its fun if you come home and go on the computer initially, but it gets quite lonely

    http://ie.youtube.com/watch?v=7sei-eEjy4g

drinking on your own is a bit of a no no anyway

In the past, it has been known for me to take a drink or two and then use my personal computer.
