New approach at 2/1 is going to be a fantastic bet because from what i hear Duke of marmalade galloped awful yesterday and might not even run . Red rock canyon beat him in the gallop yesterday - iam not saying to lay duke just get the value on New Approach.

I bet Duke won't even run - its gonna tip down from Thursday night to Saturday morning.

    Mike.

i thought it would be the ground that would stop him running but by the sounds of it , it will be how bad he galloped yesterday that's there main concern.

Both the big guns have been declared (but still subject to conditions)

Leopardstown OFF today but reschedules for tomorrow just been on Morning line.

    http://www.leopardstown.com/

Racing is off today, Saturday 6th of September but will go ahead tomorrow Sunday 7th of September

    From another site....

    Contingency Plan For Leopardstown

HRI has announced a contingency plan in case Leopardstown fails to pass an inspection of the course on Saturday morning (6th)at 7am.

Should the track be unfit for racing on Saturday the meeting will be run on Sunday (7th) and the first race will start at 1.40pm.

If Leopardstown does transfer to Sunday it will clash with Dundalk. As a consecquence fresh 'nomination of riders' will take place tomorrow (Saturday) between 10am and 12.30pm for both Sunday meetings.

They'll be doing well to stage in on Sunday either with the amount of rain that has fallen and still is currently.

Its been relatviely dry near the course for most of the late morning and it is supposed to clear up this afternoon. Water on course was problem but if they get an afternoon with no rain, then the track will soak it up I reckon.

The Magic Sign have removed Duke Of Marmalade from their list. They now go 1/2 New Approach. No announcement that I can find online from Ballydoyle and he's still in any other lists I've checked and still in the Betfair market

OT - RTE will not showing the racing, I presume ATR or RUK will though.

ATR always do Leopardstown, far superior coverage, no Marrietta wrecking my head, plus Gary O'Brien is the shrewdest pundit around.

Confirmed passed inspection - goes ahead ...

    Leopardstown passes inspection

    Tony O'Hehir

LEOPARDSTOWN'S Tattersalls Millions Irish Champion Stakes meeting goes ahead today following an early morning inspection.

The meeting was postponed from yesterday when the track was considered unfit for racing due to parts of the track being waterlogged.

The early morning going description is " yielding, yielding to soft in places ".

The first race on an eight race card is at 1.40.

However Duke Of Marmalade will not run in the Irish Champion Stakes today.

Aidan O'Brien, trainer of the five time Group 1 winner, said this morning: "We have decided not to run Duke Of Marmalade at Leopardstown today because of all the rain they had on Friday which resulted in the meeting being postponed.

Knew it, a one horse race (if everything goes to plan).

    New Approach 1.66
    King of Rome 5
    Multidimensional 7.5
    More Wells 8.5
    Red Rock Canyon (!) 26.00

I'm not actually betting atm but if I were my picks for today would be

    2.40 Carribean Sunset
3.50 New Approach (with Multidimensional for a forcast)
    4.30 Miss Kitty Hawk

It's good the meeting is on but this must be the worst Champion Stakes field in a long time. The Matron Stakes is a better race today in quality terms as is the Prix du Moulin at Longchamp.

Im going each way King of Rome and Mores Wells . Should get a place or two out of them with the chance of an upset.
