hey guys looking for your advice on getting a tripod and bag for my 450D.

i don't have many lenses atm (50mm / 70-200mm / 18-55mm all canon lenses) but as i've been bitten by the photography bug i will no doubt be adding to that so i'd like to have a bag that i won't have to update with my lens purchases.

also in the market for a tripod, not terribly fussed on this one, cheapest one possible that extends to above eye level.

now i would 9.9 times out of 10 make these purchases online but i need both by the 10th of september for a shoot so i can't really go the online route :(

It'll probably cost you for the irish buy.. but if you can't help it. Try checking out gunns and conns. Conns have some good (but expensive) Crumpler bags, Fajitas has one, it's a shoulder-bag, looks kinda like a laptop bag, but can fit a crapload of stuff. 17" laptop, good lot of gear, etc etc.

Also I wouldn't fancy using a 70-200L on a piece of crap tripod extended to eye level.. you're talking 2+kg of weight on a skimpy metal rod, which could be aluminum if you really skimp on it.. which could end up with your camera on the ground.

I have a Nova 5 AW from Lowe Pro and a Classic Mini Trekker and both fit most of what I have, I use a nature trekker and a Peli to transport the larger items. Both of the first two bags will fit all of what you have.

Gunn's are possibly the nicest people on the planet - and they stock bags galore.

PS bring our kit with you to try out.

I got myself a Manfrotto 190XPROB from Gunns a couple of weeks ago. It's not very light but it's good enough for me. The only thing I need is a case/bag for the tripod! You might also need to consider the tripod head, depending on your needs.

    Have a read at http://www.juzaphoto.com/eng/articles/tripods_and_heads.htm

actually yeh the more i think about it, it would be very foolish to use a cheapy tripod.

thanks for that link mart_max, was a great read.

i did read great things about that nova 5 bag so i'll check that out. would gunns have these in stock.

i shall go into gunn's and have a look.

normally i'm all for saving money but the people im doing the shoot for will actually be paying for this as well as for the shots :D i really don't know how i winged that one but i ain't complaining :D

Manfrotto 190XPROB with 322RC2 Grip Action Ball Quick Release Head

Generally the prefered choice around these parts..

Went for the 190XPROB with the three way head, now to get out and use it, hope the weather pulls up.

i only noticed gunns had the bag as i was walking out the door and i was in a rush so i didn't go back in.
