Take the title anyway you like.....

Either don't bother using DHL or DHL don't bother themsleves to deliver.

Had large package sent from UK to Ireland. Paid for DHL 48 hour service, well I knew that was a joke from the start, but nearly 2 weeks later its not so funny.

Sender had correct address as the invoice they sent arrived in the post two days after payment. Sender also had phone number. Traking (details from sender) indicate no attempt to deliver, Dublin> Waterford> Dublin>Released to another delivery agent.

Now I'm not exactly in a town centre location but the local area can be found from all the GPS systems I've used and its on Google maps so how can DHL screw up that badly and or is it that they just don't bother. Most likely the drivers are overloaded with work trying to keep up with managments laughable promises of pick up and delivery times that when they get a delivery that will take them time to complete they just don't bother.

Well big thanks DHL, I'll be updating this thread with any comunication I have with your company.

Well thanks again for all your effort DHL. The sender sent me the tracking number today and it made no sence on the website and the only info I could get was that there was a delay. So called DHL who informed me that the parcel has been sitting in their depot since the 22nd of August when delivery was attempted (now 3rd September) and the driver left a card to say to contact the depot.

ROTFL someone is in residence 24x7 and no card was left.

I was also given the reason that I wasn't informed was becasue there was no phone number in the shipping info. While I agree it would of been a good idea for the sender to include the phone number it still doesn't stop someone locating where I live or sending me a postcard to inform me that the parcel is sitting in a depot. How much is a stamp?

Next gripe is that becasue I phoned after 5pm (phoned about 6.15pm) I may not get delivery tomorrow but may have to wait another day.

DHL...... what about the words 48 hour and service don't you understand? I'm sure you understand that advertising a well priced service and delivery within 48hours gets you business but sometimes people actuall expect you to be able to deliver on those promises.

Got a call from DHL customer care this morning. Well what a waste of my time, the usual story of platitudes and humble applogies but no action what so ever.

They won't deliver today and I have to wait till Friday so from when I called them thats 36 hours (+) its going to take them to get a parcel to me that has been in their hands for two weeks 25 miles away from here and I paid for a 48hour service.

So far it looks like 48 hour delivery is going to be about 360 hour delivery service - you don't see that on the advertising.

Most annoying is that from any of DHL's computer statistics this will show up as a successful delivery as the system says the driver attemped delivery on the 22nd August and no one was in so he scanned a card to "prove" that and left it here.

Sorry DHL thats very unlikely, the Dogs bark at every passing vehicle (very few in a rural area) and run to the gate whenever anyone stops, we also hear every passing vehicle as the road is above the house, the house hasn't been unocupied in the last 3 weeks and there is no sign of any card beeing left.

    To be continued........

Had a phone call in the morning for directions from the driver, now I wasn't in a great mood so told the driver that he must know where I live as he had left a card previously. The reply was it wasn't his handwritting and couldn't have been him (not sure where there was any handwritting?) so didn't know where I lived. That over I explained exactly where we were.

Later that day the item was delivered in good shape. The driver explained he had tried to deliver before but couldn't find us and had left the note under the door of the next door house and to check with that neighbour. Well as the house had been empty for 6 months has a massive for sale sign out side, a name plate that indicated it wasn't the right house and no way to get a note under the door I'm still not convinced. There was originally no phone number with the address, the senders fault and the driver said he had looked us up in the phone book and phoned seven times and got no answer when he first attempted delivery. Again still not convinced we have an answering service and if we miss any call the phone has a missed call light to let us know we've missed a call and then lists all the callers phone numbers so we can call back.

So now I'm thinking if the driver did look up my phone number and call me then why was the parcel left for 2 weeks in a DHL depot? Do DHL have so much storage space and capacity that its easier to store stuff for free than actually deliver it? How much longer would it have stayed there if I hadn't called them?

Finally the tracking system sux. The only info I could ever get from the web site tracking was that the delivery was "delayed", but when I phoned DHL (only avaible number I could find was a Dublin number) I was given very detailed tracking information Hmmmmm so why can't the customer have the same info?

16 days to get an item from the UK to a destination in Ireland. Now as the last time DHL delivered to me it took 10 days from the UK I do you really think I'll be using them again?
