Right long story short. Went looking for a job in a recruitment agency Monday and went through the whole registering thing with them, filled out all the forms etc.. When i was done the girl interviewing me asking about my C.V. etc... and when she was finished she told me they would need my Bank details, account number, sort code, address etc.... all filled out before they would put me forward for positions.I told them i would not hand over my bank details until i got offered a position and was told that they would not put me forward for work unless i handed over my details. I told them i would think about it. Am i right?

I have registered with some agencies in the past but never asked for any bank details from me.

The only reason I would give my bank details if I was going to do some temping work, with temping the agency pay you and therefore need your details.

Once you receive a full time role with a company, the company would ask for your details, not the agency.

I find it a bit strange that they have asked for your bank details unless you are going to do some temping.

I guess they want to be sure you have a bank account.

    Are you Irish?

Yes don't hand over info until you have a contract to sign. There is no need for them to ask for your bank details so soon

100% agree with cute cow. I used to manage one of the large city centre based agencies and the only time we would ask for bank details is if someone were looking for temp work. Gixerfixer, were you being interviewed for a permanent or temporary position (or both)?
