Hotpoint Dishwasher

I moved into a house a few months. Previous owner left the dishwasher which is integrated. It is a Hotpoint Aquarius Ultima, De luxe 6834. It washes the dishes ok but there is always a lot of black goo at the bottom around the filter and under the filter. I have used dishwasher cleaner a few times but it does'nt really work. I am reluctant to buy a new machine when it does wash the dishes properly but I just don't like the look of the black stuff left behind. I have not idea how old the machine is. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

welcome to boards. your problem can be many things. could be a very long time since a maintenacne wash has been done.

Put 2 cups filled with white vinegar into the dishwasher (one on top tray and one on bottom tray) and try running it on it's most intensive setting with nothing inside the dishwasher. You should notice a vast improvement.

post back and let us know if no improvement and i can guide you on further :)
