Anyone got any ideas on how we might be able to do something constructive and try and help this lad apart form sitting around shaking our heads saying 'what a shame'.

This has really pissed me off in a major way.

i wonder if amnesty international are involved with his case. after watching the beeb report.

was it just because the material featured women?

have you got any ideas about what action you'd like to take?

Amnesty international are the best bet.

Why is this in the NUIG forum though?

I've signed up and would urge everyone here to do the same. It may not ultimately help but it certainly can't place the lad in any worse a position can it?

If anyone has any other ideas feel free to let us know.

As to people asking why here? Why not? A lot of people post here and students are usually fairly galvanized about important issues, in my experience anyway. Oh and the small fact that the person in question is a 23 year old student himself. I thought maybe other students might relate to that. If it was an Irish student...

And you don't have to read it if the posting of this topic doesn't fit well with your idea as to what the NUI Galway forum should be.

Having got that rant over, hope a few of you take the time to follow that link. Might see a few of you on campus on the 15th. Thanks for your time one and all.

Surely there are better fora for this to be put in.

    Political discussion maybe?

Really have no idea why the location of this post bothers you so much. In the bigger picture I don't think it matters much as long as people take notice. Yeah I'm beginning as a first year on the 15th.

I'm one of those "everything in its place" people.

While it's a good thing that you want people to take notice of this, more people would take notice of it if it were in a more suitable forum.

    What are you studying btw?

Having a stab at Arts. Are you studying yourself?
