Go to doctor, there's plenty they can prescribe and do to help.

I used to wake up with night sweats as a kid, literally the bed would be soaked from sweating and cold sweats. Went on a horrible thing called Tofranil(spelling?) which fixed it right up!

you can get cream or somrthing for it.

my mate used to have it but he's grand now.

something to do with his pores or something.........too many of em i think......maybe not enough, not too sure.

wouldnt worry too much about it tbh.

    Hey there,

Just incase it's of any interest to you. I had the very same problem and I know it's not for everyone and may not suit your situation but I went on the conterceptive pill and i never had a problem again.

Mine was really bad, I couldn't even think about wearing a grey top - I buy them now, still 4 years later more than any other colour just because I can :)

    Good luck x

Hi canuhelp, theres loads of people out there with this problem,
I remember reading a few previous threads and they recomend botox, over in beaumount, maybe try a dermatologist. Chin up the answer is probably just around the coner.

Many possible causes. One condition that arises relatively frequently in the Irish population, but that is often under-diagnosed, is an overactive thyroid (hypothyroidism). Part of the reason that it is under-diagnosed is because doctors frequently dismiss the symptoms as trivial. Some people do have this idea that it is somehow unfeminine for a woman to sweat, which is simply nonsense. But if you really are sweating to an uncomfortable extent, then it might be worth investigating this possibility. Try visiting another doctor, and ask them about getting tested.

Hey, I had this problem too...

In my case I am very sensitive to Caffeine so if I had coffee or diet coke - it would aggravate it and I would have sweaty armpits.

I have to avoid these and try not to drink hot things like tea too fast.

I drink Sage Tea which seems to help (research this online, it's really meant to help) and doesn't do any harm (I let it cool and knock it back sometimes but it's not bad anyway).

If I know I'm going to be wearing a silk top or anything I use high strength anti-perspirants like Dri-Clor or Perspex (can find them in boots).

    Hope that helps a bit...

Definitely see a different doctor as your level of sweating is hardly 'normal', so that doctor wasn't very helpful. It might be worth getting referred to a specialist. The cause of hyperhidrosis isn't entirely understood but there can be underlying medical factors affecting it, and there are some treatments available to reduce the problem.
Don't know if you've seen this website before but it might have some useful info. for you. Best of luck. http://www.sweathelp.org/English/
