I asked them through the regular support address how I can get sorted to deposit about 5k as my current limit is $600 per day...Am I right to be wary of this:

    Thank you for contacting us!

In this case, we suggest you send a Money Order or two Western Union
    transactions.

We accept bank drafts (official bank cheques), cashier's cheques or
international money orders in any amount from $100.00 USD to $5,000.00
USD. Please do not send personal cheques or cash as we cannot accept
them. If you are sending a post office money order, please make sure
that it is negotiable outside of the US.

Registered mail or courier should be used for forwarding. Regular mail
should not be used as it cannot be tracked. Please attach a
note/letter including your full name and PokerStars User ID along with
    the bank draft/cashier's cheque/money order.

    Make your item payable to:

    ATM Online

It is important that no other details are written on the cheque.
Neither your PokerStars User ID nor the company R.E.E.L should be
referenced on the cheque. Any item containing such a reference will be
    returned unprocessed.

Please note that the address for sending payments to is different than
the name above and is as follows:

    R.E.E.L.
    Douglas Bay Complex
    King Edward Road,
    Onchan
    Isle of Man, IM3 1DZ
    United Kingdom

Once you have sent your payment, please send us an email providing the
date of the payment, the exact amount, any tracking or reference
    number and your User ID.

Upon receipt of your payment, you will be notified by email and the
funds will be deposited into your PokerStars account.

We also accept Western Union transfers for most States and most
Countries. These can be processed in as little as 1 hour. Please check
our Cashier window, click the Buy Chips button, select Western Union
and request instructions at anytime. You can send $1800 every 24 hours and
    $6000 a week.

If you need help in using some other deposit method, you might want to
contact our Deposit Assistance Department. You can reach them directly
    at dad@pokerstars.com.

Let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with.

    Regards,

    Bianca
    PokerStars Support Team

That seems really weird. Why would they not just accept a 5k neteller deposit?

    hmmm, i would be sceptical.

Just email back and remind them that you aren't American

    Email addy seems legit :
Before you purchase a Gift or Prepaid VISA, please email our Deposit Assistance Department (DAD) at dad@pokerstars.com to request information on Gift and Prepaid cards that can be used to successfully deposit.

As for the hoops they require you to jump through.........

I'd say it legit. The address being in the Isle of man is definitly a good thing, if it was Nigeria then I'd be worry, unless Biance is pulling her own little scam while working for stars which I seriously doubt.

Sounds like they think you are in the states with all of those references to Western Union and prepaid Visas... Maybe mail them back and ask if they have any other options for Irish people?

It would be cheaper to bring the €5k and deliver it personally than send it by Western Union.

They charge a 7% commission, you'll have to send it to Costa Rica where it will be changed into Costa Rican Whatevers and they will then send it on to Poker Stars who will lodge it into your account ( so you'll get 2 exchange fees, diasadvantageous exchange rates and about €300 in processing fees )

I got my limit increased a while back (depositing through neteller) and no hoop jumping was required. All i did was email them.

    Costa Rican Whatevers
There called colons. Sounds like a sh1t currency.

They obviously didn't know you were not American or they would have mentioned Neteller. This is the way these companies do business if they accept Americans clients, they have to avoid it being seen that the deposits are going to an online gambling site. Surprised BCB of all people is sceptical. This is standard for these firms, but don't take my word for it, talk to them.

And why would it be sent to Costa Rica DeepThroat when Stars has been in the Isle of Man for quite some time?

Indeed.... Thats exactly what I was thinking, and it even goes to a "person"

MARNE BEJARANO GOMEZ of SAN JOSE COSTA RICA is todays person

If you don't believe me click on the deposit to Western Union button and check the instructions;)
