Fee confusion

    Hi folks

I am new to NUIG starting a masters this year. This morning I received a fees payable letter from them. I am confused and maybe someone can help.

Firstly, I have been granted a full maintenance grant from my local Co. Co.

Secondly, during my PAC application process, I submitted a deposit of €500.

The fee bill I received this morning lists the following
    Student Levy: €222
    Tuition Fee: €1528

The the accompanying notes mention a "Non-Tuition" charge of €900. What is that ? Tuition charge / Non Tuition charge (very confusing)

Also, if I do have to pay something, they advise that I should pay using the giro form at least 5 days prior to registration - but I only received that form today and I register next Monday, so they have only given me three days to pay. Is that a bit unfair? why so late to send me this ?
Really would appreciate any help / advice.

    Many thanks

    Kieran

Edit: Also forgot to mention, that I tried phoning all 5 numbers for the fees office listed at the top of the leter, in every case, I got through to a voicemail. I know they're busy but .....(or is it just me).

Not certain on this one Kstaford to be honest, I'm sitting here grappling with the forms myself..i THINK, that the 500euro you paid thru pac is deducted from your course cost, so you pay the levy (222) and half of the course fee.
Unless of course you already have a letter from the grant office to say they have approved your grant..then you only pay the 222...

nuig have seriously made a balls of things again this year in terms of registering

was on campus today and went in to the fees office. Turns out that cos I already have a grant acceptance letter from co. council, all I have to pay is the student levy €222. (phew).

The fees office wer enot aware of my €500 euro deposit, so I had to talk to the postgrad admissions office and they confirmed that they had it (I sent it in July). So PHEW again.

btw: what is the student levy? what does it cover? what's it for ?

The student levy is paid by every student and goes toward the running of the Student Union.
I've been shown how its broken down before, but can't remember exactly. A percentage will go toward the Student Health Unit, running of the union, etc.
However, the majority of the levy goes toward paying for the new €18m Sports Centre completed this month.
