    Hi
Ive just bought a second hand house thats about 50 years old.
So it needs some work done to it -
    Total rewire
    Bathroom moved upstairs
Wall knocked down between the kitchen and what was the bathroom

We have been quoted 19,500 euro for the lot, we are providing all the sanitary wear for the bathroom.

    Does this price seem excessive??

    as for a detailed breakdown

will a RECI ( electrical cert ) be issued
    is the builder insured
what floor and wall finishes are included
    are skips included
    is vat included
ask for detail on plumbing items included

when you get this breakdown - you can use it a a template ( copy type the items - minus the €'s of course ) and ask 2 other builders to give costs

it is hard to say here if the price is high or not

Are you providing all cables, switches, fittings, plumbing piping, tiles etc?
    Is this labour only?

Sounds like labour & materials, including demolition, making good, plumbing electrics, carpentry, tiling.

I'd recomend getting 3 quotes minimum, just to get an idea of the going rates in your area.

    Hi
I took your advise and got some other quotes one was for 8500 euro including skips and another was for 14k including doors.

The only thing we are providing is the sanitary wear in the bathroom, we are also keeping a loo downstairs so a new toilet is being fitted and wash-hand basin and also two false walls are being put up also!
