I have an exchange 2003 Sp2 box receiving mail via smtp as per normal.

Now I also have 6 users that pop mail onto their laptops from @eircom.net addresses along with being connected to the exchange server and I have their pop mail then going into their mailbox on the ezchane server, I am wondering If I can get the exchange server to bring down their pop mail instead of having the user pop the mail to the laptop first and then onto their mailbox. Can the server collect pop and smtp mail? What happens when the mail is goign out from the server ~ will it now have bother?

There is a POP3 connector manager under connectors, where you set up POP connectors and the exchange accounts they are associated with.

It works in parallel with the SMTP connector(s) that you have already.

You might want to confirm first that your exchange server based antivirus/ antispam solution will check this mail though.

Otherwise, setting up each Eircom account to redirect the incoming mail to the exchange server might be a better approach.
(OT. I'd first try not to have Eircom accounts receiving mail associated with the business.)

They are replacing the eircom accounts with smtp accounts and a domain email address but for a few months they still need to receive mail on the eircom address's.
