Where are you downloading it from? You may be downloading a PC version of Firefox, as it is available for several operating systems. Anyway, Safari is just as fast as Firefox, if not faster - Firefox just has lots of plugins and addons which some people find useful.

This is where you should download it from

If the download from the above link doesn't work, could you please specify the error you are getting?

I think "some kind of error" is usually caused by some kind of problem. But there should be some kind of solution, probably by trying some kind of thing. ;)

    What exactly is the error?

Click here and click the download link to get the browser. If the error persists, type out what the error is.

Also, it might be worth while letting us know what macbook you have, and what operating system you have too as it could be OS-specific errors you're getting.

I actually switched from Firefox to Safari as it's a bit better integrated with the rest of Mac OS X.

Pre-empting anyone claiming that Firefox 3 fits the style of OS X.

No it doesn't. It looks like crap.

The style of FF3 was so horrible that I switched back to FF2. I've also recently discovered Quick Searches. Bye-bye Google search box.

What kinda integtration does safari have that firefox doesn't? Out of interest!

It doesn't have that much functional integration, but it does start faster than Firefox, and it definitely fits better with the rest of the OS X UI.

If you've got an iPhone it will sync the Safari bookmarks.

Firefox 3 improved a lot especially, in memory management.
It's a whole lot of work to make it work among all supported platforms and this is where most of the pain is coming from.

If you want the Gecko engine with a browser that is a native app, all without the bloat go for Camino.
You'll loose the extensibility however and Camino's adblocker is less then perfect.

The main one is that it's integrated with OSX's Keychain which stores all your passwords, certificates etc in one secure place. Firefox insists on using it's own password manager.

Safari is lightning fast anyway, so I don't see the issue.

Does Firefox use OSX's spell-checking feature yet?

    With Firefox 3 it does.

IE starts faster cause it's preloaded, and looks more integrated into windoze than anything else, but that certainly doesn't make it the best browser on windoze...

    I'm partial to your abracadabra,

I'm raptured by the joy of it all.

I'm not saying it's better; I use Firefox myself.
