Mountain Bikers at Trinity

    Hey guys,

I'm starting Trinity this September, and was wondering if there was a mountain bike club in the college. I checked everywhere and there doesn't seem to even be a cycling club, though some of the lads who go there say there is, though not sure what type of cycling they do. Basically I need a safe, secure place to store my bike, met other mountain bikers, and make it easier to organise transport to the trails.

IF there isn't one already, how hard would it be to set one up? What criteria are there to be met? What funding is available, how much?

    Any help appriciated:D

There is a cycling club cause I remember being disappointed that there was none, but then finding a sign up for one in the sports centre later on that year.

As for a safe place to store your bike on campus, there is a locked bike area next to the Pearse Street gate into college which has swipe card access and also has CCTV monitoring the gate. It's probably the best place but I know the swipe pad on the gate can have trouble recognising some student cards.

Well what I mean is somewhere a bit like a club house, I won't be cycling a €1000 bike into college everyday, nor do I want to keep it there. What is the policy of keeping bikes inside at halls? I'm going to assume it's not allowed, especially muddy mountain bikes:rolleyes:

According to the TH rule book, bikes discovered inside Halls will be "placed outside"..

There definitely is a DU Bicycle Club, as I understand it the reason they are absent from the official sports clubs list is that they aren't yet recognised by DUCAC (the current incarnation of the club is only a couple of years old).

i wouldnt mind joining a bike club. anyone know what type of cycling it is?

@Peleus: from what I can find out, it is a road club, however from talking to the lads over at madmtb.com, it would be far too difficult to set up a mountain bike club in Trinity, and so it would be better to just join up with the mad lads for spins, etc, until we can get something else sorted.
