Hello ,feels like posting in a new forum it's changed so much :)

I am really dying to get out with a camera again ,but the thoughts of carrying all the lenses is putting me off. Does anyone have any idea what small camera would give good depth of field ,without adding a lens?

Don't mind spending a few quid ,provided it's what I'm looking for.

    Thanks.

    Congrats ,new mods !

Most of the bridge cameras (A step between a compact and a SLR) allow you to use alot of the features that SLRs have. I think the Fuji ones are pretty good, I have a s5600 myself. The new s100fs looks pretty sweet.

Equiv of a 28/400mm lens huge ISO range F2.8-F11 apature range, 11mp, and it uses lens dials to manual focus / adjust focal length.

It will set you back about 500 notes on pixmania, but other bridges are available cheaper.

Of course, the problem with a bridge camera is that you don't have the adaptability of a dSLR. With a dSLR you can just pop an extreme wide angle lens for landscape, then switch to a good macro lens for super close up shots. But it all depends on what you are looking for yourself.

It's an awesome camera. Fixed lens but given the range that covers i would be more than happy to purchase it myself.

Thanks for the replies ,never thought of looking at the fuji cameras ,I was looking at the G9 by canon.

I suppose quality of images is important ,along with taking bulk into account.

    Cheers.

According to Canon rumours the G9 is gone/going and the G10 will be out soon. Maybe wait a while and see if the price drops on the 9 or if the 10 is a whole lot better.

Why not just take out your slr with 1 zoom or even 1 prime?
