It has a lot of nice features - each tab is like a separate process, or if one dies it doesn't affect the rest of them. It does DNS pre-fetching as well for a little extra speed boost in loading pages. I'm just waiting for the requisite Adblock plugin haha!

This from a post today on the BBC website:

Google is launching an open source web browser to compete with Internet Explorer and Firefox.

The browser is designed to be lightweight and fast, and to cope with the next generation of web applications that rely on graphics and multimedia.

Called Chrome, it will launch as a beta for Windows machines in 100 countries, with Mac and Linux versions to come.

This article has some good screenshots of the Chrome browser in action:

go to http://webkit.org/ and hit the download button on the right.

You'll end up with a disk image so you drag the icon (looks identical to the safari icon except for a gold bezel rather than a silver one) to Applications folder.

Just launch it - what it does is it launches Safari using the Webkit rendering engine....so don't be confused if the menu says Safari rather than webkit. You'll know you're using webkit because the splash page is different!

Sorry i think i have misunderstood your original post. I was wondering if i can see the new google Chrome browser working on 10.5.2. I have downloaded Webkit and it does indeed bring up Safari.Where do i go from here if its possible to do this thanks?

    not possible i'm afraid.

just because it's based on the webkit engine doesn't mean that we can magically pull it out of our hats.

we just have to wait.......though those who run bootcamp/parallels/vmware can go boot into Windoze and tell us all about it!

For anyone that wants to run chrome on their Mac, you can check it out of subversion and run your own local build.

well.......as of right now i'm not nearly as excited as i was.

FFS intel only......what a crock of ****. I hope they build a universal binary....seriously annoying if they don't.
An Intel Mac running Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard. Currently the depot_tools are x86-only, and V8 only compiles for Intel.

Seems like they are reacting to the negative feedback quickly and removing those sections from the EULA:
