    Hey

I am trying to find some clubs in Dublin city as I live in Ringsend. I have searched on google but I have only found old websites which havent been updated in 2 years.

    Does anybody know of any?

    Thanks,

    You mean Japanese (traditional) Jujutsu?

There's a lad in Raheny Richard Tighe who posts here. Not sure of the web address though.

Just in case you mean Japanese jujutsu and just in case you mean classical Japanese jujutsu - i.e. it includes weapons - then Bujinkan is what you want.
www.bujinkan.ie has a list of all the Dublin clubs including mine in the Liberties - I'm accepting beginner students over the next few weeks.

By the way wikipedia has a decent note on Jujutsu and Bujinkan falls into the first 2 paragraphs. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jujutsu

Just a little word on the convention some people use.

Jiujitsu usually refers to the martial art and combat sport of Brazilian Jiujitsu which is highly refined form of grappling used by many competitors in Ultimate fighting. However, it may also refer to modern Jiujitsu which is a mix of some grappling and some karate techniques with a sporting application.

Jujutsu usually refers to Classical Jujutsu and Japanese Jujutsu. Classical jujutsu is concerned with conserving the techniques and training practices of feudal Japan incorporating some striking techniques, grappling and locking techniques and weapons training. Japanese jujutsu is more or less like modern jujutsu mixing some striking techniques familiar to those in Karate and some grappling techniques familiar to those used in Judo.

Not everyone will be happy with those definitions but I hope we won't get bogged down on that.

In my opinion, BJJ is the most functional, realistic and enjoyable form of Jiujitsu and if you can't find a BJJ club to suit you I'd recommend partaking in Judo.

BJJ is available in most of these areas on this map

If its authentic Koryu Japanese JuJutsu your after then really your only options here in ireland are Genbukan, Bujinikan or Tony Carrick in Lucan.

There are others who teach simular stuff.

    For Japanese Ju Jutsu, try:
    http://www.kyushoshinjitsu.com

It's in Drumcondra. I only trained there a couple of times a few yrs ago so can't comment too much, but if Japanese Ju Jutsu is what you want, I would def recommend this place. Give Joe Carslake a call to discuss - he's a very nice guy.
