Help tuning in irish channels on a aerial

    Hi all

    Dont know if i am posting in the right place but here goes

    I cancelled my sky subscription and have been getting the fta channels on my sky box, because i cant get any of the irish channels on sky fta, i've been trying to tune em in using an aerial into the back of my tv

    only prob is i have sound and teletext but no picture

    any ideas??i have tried everything to fix this

    You do have an outside aerial?

    Does the TV have an Analogue or Digital tuner? If you are receiving via TV aerial and not RF from Sky Digibox, then your problem may be that the TV is a Digital Tuner. Most Digital Terrestrial TVs will not work with Irish TV as UK is MPEG2 and we use MPEG4. There is no official service till next year, only tests on some sites.

    For now you need an Analogue Tuner (Dunnes 99 Euro DVD recorder is a good add on analogue TV tuner), or an MPEG4 Digital Terrestrial Set box.

    If you're using analogue and are only getting teletext and sound, perhaps you're using a TV from another part of Europe, or it's set to the wrong country?

    The UK and Ireland use PAL I for analogue TV. This has a different frequency plan to PAL used in other EU countries, there are several variations.

    Perhaps your TV is set to the wrong area?

    You should check the installation menu.
