Japan - offshore eco-rigs to generate power and food

    Offshore rigs designed to harness wind and solar energy. These are large scale units (2,000 m x 800 m) designed to produce 300 MW of electricity each. Two of these would replace a nuclear power station.

    Ireland could adapt this technology concept to use wind and wave energy, rather than perhaps wind and solar.

    Fascinating. Integrated sea-farm power stations, this looks like a hopeful technology. Definitely one to watch, cheers for the brainfood probe!

    I'm reminded of a friend who dives a lot talking about marine ecosystems near oil rigs, and how they typically have become highly successful habitats.
