Philips 42" Plasma: I don't like the sound, my old tv was better. Is this normal that it sounds so muffed/ background noisier than the characters speaking??

Would hooking up a Stereo system to it improve it, and if so which type, does it need to be Wi-Fi???

Dont know about linking up these kind of things and don't have anyone handy to tell me either!!

    Thanks for advice.

You try using the built in sound presets or EQ's. The one for soaps gives more clarity to dialogue than background music and ambient sound, similarily movies will give less preference to dialogue.

The sound from newer TV's is often not as 'full' as that from older CRTs, because the speakers from newer TVs need to be that much smaller.

I don't know what model TV you have, but some sets will have outputs for external speakers, if you wish to go this route you may need an amp as well as speakers.

Exactlty, it needs some getting used to. But if you have a receiver you can route it through that or your stereo system if the TV has 2 line out RCA jacks and the stereo has 2 line in jacks.

Ok guys, this is what I have:
    http://www.p4c.philips.com/files/4/42pfp5332_10/42pfp5332_10_pss_aen.pdf

See page 2 for the "ins and outs":D

I think the sony home cinema should solve the problem, as Ive already tried the built in sound presets and EQ's......to no avail. Even tried to go through the Sky Box Sound Options as another person told me, and this didn't help. I think I will have to get the Sony setup, cause the Philips dont seem to be as good.

Thank god I love DIY stuff, or id be in big trouble trying to set it all up!!
