Anyone know how much it is to replace the entire screen? or replace the backlight? My screen has recently died, ie gone totally black.

Most likely to be the backlight or inverter. Have a look on eBay for the exact one for your model. Can be quite pricey new.

How old is the laptop? Might you still be able to get the repair done under warranty?

Also, moving from Computers and Technology.

How old is the laptop? Is it highly spec'd? As a screen replacement is often worth more than the actual laptop.

could simply be the screen inverter: its a small piece the size of an AA Battery that converts the voltage for the screen.

lcd screens are ultra reliable. It's always the either the cffl tube or the inverter that goes. They're simple to replace but finding the right parts is the problem.

Well, I have a similar problem with my laptop and recently went to laptop repair shop to enquire - was told that if the reason the screen wasnt working was one of 2 things, replacement screen would cost €300... hopefully this isnt the same case as your laptop - I've now decided to buy a new one as paying €300 for a laptop screen is a little too pricey for me to comprehend...

The lcd screen on my laptop (HP Pavilion zv6115EA) has been giving trouble for the last few weeks and it stopped working last night. The laptop powers on alright but the screen is dead. Is it worth my while getting it repaired or should i just get a new laptop?
