A Club for Clubbers

I am looking at setting up a club in Dublin that caters for only those with an interest in dance. In other words just good tunes, people who are there for the music, a friendly atmosphere and nobody looking to rip you off on entry and at the bar. A club that plays good music (more anthems & old skool, even though I've no idea what that actually means), lets you get off yer 'ed without worrying about getting a bottle held to your neck. Ahhh... just the thoughts of it....Just like every other city in the world. Except Dublin.

Good luck with it mate, does sound a bit too good to be true though. Friendly atmosphere and no rip-off's, doesn't sound very Dublin-like to me......

    Derek,

As ive already said to you mate a great idea, but one that needs to take into consideration a lot of factors, firstly finding a suitable club that wont cost too much (unless you've got a few quid and want to hire out a bigger club) and secondly be prepared to make a loss for a while until such time (hopefully) things improve and you build up a regular loyal following.

Also make it as affordable as possible, and music policy is important too, instead of having the same music all the time i would have different music on different nites, say for example Techno on Fridays and Funky House/Club Classics on Saturday (just a suggestion) and occasionally have an old skool nite too.

Also marketing is a big thing too,facebook/myspace/bebo,etc are free and a great source of marketing your club nite, posters throughout Dublin and flyers though cost money but are also effective.

A lot of DJ's im sure would play for free for a while anyway, and rememebr you don't always need bigger dj's in order to have a great nite, athough booking the occasional guest DJ would be good but try build up the club first.

As i said mate if you need any assistance with your project id be happy to help as im sure some mates of mine would too.:)

Thats another consideration, the music type. Do you set it up as one music style, i.e. Electro House, Techno, Trance, or do you throw in Old Skool, Minimal and Hard House etc. Obviously some styles appeal more than others, for example, I like Electro House and Techno, but wouldn't go to a Hard House or Trance night if I was paid. But there are people out there who love this stuff. Or is it going to be just general dance music which has elements of everything.

Great idea but sounds a bit fairytale to me. Its not just dublin clubs that rip you off. i was in Ibiza in 2003 and was payin €50+ to get into pacha and manumission and then inside i was payin €10 for a bottle of water or a beer. Great clubs but you were seriously payin for the privilege.

One of the reasons refuse to go to Ibiza anymore, and I love the place, for 70 or 80 Bucks a night you can have the time of your life in somewhere like Berlin, they really are taking the piss out there now, I heard its something like €65 to get into Space/Pacha this year

Berlin is a gud spot, was there 2 years ago but tryin to get into the better clubs out there is seriously difficult, once the door knows you are johhny foreigner, you aint gettin in. It has a cool underground club scene with dark moody clubs but your personal safety in these is apparently not guaranteed. it still is one of the best cities ive ever been and the germans are good craic
