    Why don't you ring Quinn. I'm sure they would be able to tell you exactly what the law states.

    Its not that hard to find!

    European Union vehicles

    It is the responsibility for the driver to prove how long the vehicle has been in the country. This can be achieved by producing ferry tickets. EU vehicles brought into the UK will be allowed to circulate freely for six months in any 12 month period without the need to register here, provided the vehicle complies with the requirements of its home country. Certain vehicles will be required to display a temporary 'Q' plate. Temporary visitor status is not appropriate to these vehicles.

    Also remember that the UK has plenty of cameras (not just speed ones) so the authoirities will know when the car is on the road if they really want to find out!

    From quinn policy
    http://www.quinn-direct.ie/documents/motor_policy_roi.pdf

    Foreign use
    Your policy provides the minimum cover you need by law to use
    the vehicle in:
    a any country which is a member of the European Union; and

    b any other country which has made arrangements to meet the
    minimum insurance requirements of the Commission of the
    European Union.

    We will automatically extend this to provide your full policy cover
    (as shown in the schedule) for these countries for up to 93 days
    in any one period of insurance.
    If you need cover for a longer period or if you want to travel to any
    other country, you must:
    a ask us to provide cover before the date of departure;
    b tell us the date of departure and return;
    c tell us which countries you are visiting; and
    d pay any extra premium necessary.

    cheers guys.

    So from quinn it seems only min. UK insurance for a period over 93 days. And 93 days full cover in any insurance term (12 months). So no benefit to bring home after 3 months?
