Old Inspiron: No backlight

I have an old Inspiron 5100 that I want to give to my younger sister just for web browing and music etc.

I had given a loan of it to someone else for a while and tbh it looks like they used it as a battering ram. It turns on and boots up but the screen is extremely dark. I switched on a high contrast theme to be able to use the screen at a tilt.

Yesterday when I switched it on the screen was normal for a few minutes and then flickered back to being extremely dark when I tilted it forward so it seems to be a loose cable. Where abouts would I find said cable or is it likely to be something more awkward to remedy?

    Cheers.

Sounds like the "someone else" has managed to doink the backlight, should make them pay for the repair as it won't be cheap. Besides that you could always hook it up to a monitor for the sis to use, if you need one I have a couple spare here you can have one, pm me if you do. they are 15" CRTs, but they work perfectly.
