Seen loads of pictures of this tree on Flickr so, having to drive to Waterford last week - I set off a wee bit early and took a couple of shots. Was early morning but the light was poor and the sky equally so.. This is about the best of a bad lot.. c&c welcome on how it could be improved...

Good god you broke the rule of thirds! heh heh. Works to your advantage though having the subject directly in the centre balances the composition, even though they say your subject should slightly off centre. Nice bit of drama happening in the sky and seems to balance with the texture in the crops. Bottom left is maybe a bit untidy and distracting for the type of composition you are going for it seems. If getting hte chance to take this again maybe you could watch out for it?

A bit difficult to get more emphasis on the tree I suppose, maybe a landscape shot might have defined the subject a bit more.

Cheers Paddy - I have a landscape shot but am not sure that it adds a whole lot to the image (empty field either side). The reason I included the 'muck' at the front was for a bit of foreground interest but interesting to hear you'd rather that was left out - I will try a crop to see.. Completely broke the rule of thirds alright - it's something I must start trying to work with a bit more when I'm out and about. Unfortunately, all my photography is a bit opportunist at the moment in that I don't seem to get the time to spend too long at any one location...

    Thanks for the feedback,
    Paul

I know that tree. Well spotted and captured. I am always too lazy to stop the car :-)
