Teeth Whitening

Im living in Dublin and want to get my teeth whitened.
However, I have noticed that there is a big discrepancy between the various places that offer it! Prices range from €250 to €500 for the laser whitening and most places have different types such as Zoom, Beyond white spa and BriteSmile!
Has anyone any experience with this that they can share? Or can anyone recommend any places? Thanks :)

I went to the Smiles Clinic in South Anne Street and couldn't recommend them enough. They seem to have offers on quite regularly - I paid €350 for the Zoom in-office treatment and I'm thrilled with the results. If you are a member of Vivas Health, they also cover some of the cost of the procedure which is great.

Be sure and ask them about any offers they have coming up - the price is advertised at €500 on their site but you should be able to get it for €350 or so. Oh and ask for Niamh - the best dentist I've ever gone to! I had the whitening, a cleaning and a bunch of fillings and she was fantastic.

There is a place south side of the city, I will get back to you with the name. I got it done there eight years ago.

I got the treatment that requires you to put the gel on over night with a mouth guard (not very pretty) but its eight years on and my teeth are still glowing, I get compliments all the time.

It costs e450 per pot of gel, I got two pots for top and one for bottom, and I will tell you it was well worth it. My teeth were never a bad white, I just wanted the Hollywood Smile and I got it!!

I done alot of research before getting it done and I was recommended the gel over the laser everytime, as the gel will last up to twelve years, the laser does not and the gel has much better results!!!

Sorry for not knowing the name, it was so long ago, but a bot of research and they wont be hard to find!!!

    Good Luck

I recently bought some Crest whitening strips on Ebay for around €40. My sister had used them before and recommended them. I have been using them for around a week and have noticed results already. They are no hassle to use and apparently no worse for your teeth than professional teeth whitening.

My Dad uses these and recommends them. Noticable difference after a week or so. I had a tray made by my dentist 2 years ago. Cost 200 with 2 lots of bleach and only recently opened up the 2nd one. If you use it for a week when you're in bed, you wouldnt need to use it again for about 2 months. Will try the Crest strips when my gel runs out. Get a quote from your dentist-it might be a whole lot more economical!

Yes Crest Whitestrips are wonderful. They don't work on laminates and things like that, though.

crest strips sound amazing im dying to try them! can you buy them anywhere over here?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 84 ✭✭Lo23

Yeah I have bought the crest whitening strips on ebay and they definitely work but i think they can only get your teeth a certain shade of white - maybe I am being a tad unrealisitic here but i want the Hollywood style whiteness :):)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,496 ✭✭✭LolaLuv

I'm in the US where they're available everywhere, and I still get them on eBay. Yeah, you won't get Hollywood white but on the plus side, they won't be toooo white, either.

How much are they checked on line and got price vairainces of 40- 80 euros. I actually NEVER bought anything on e-bay!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,496 ✭✭✭LolaLuv

That's waaaaay too much! You can get them for 20 dollars on American eBay, just find someone who will ship internationally. And be careful which ones you're buying, the stronger ones which take less time will be more likely to make your teeth sore!

Hey, if nothing else (like you don't find them on eBay or aren't comfortable with it), I could always bring you some over when I come, and either post them to you or meet you if you're in Dublin. They'll be slightly more expensive, up to $37 depending on the strength you want. But they don't take up much room in luggage and are very light so it wouldn't be a problem at all!

That vid was funny, I'm an eBay junkie!

Ah thats so - oo kind - but its ok my freind is on way home soon and my mams freind is on holidays, Thanks though!

That vid always makes me laugh - I m scared of e-bay! net shopping in general - think sure it will become an expensive addiction!
Couldn t possibly justify another - my shoe fasination is more then keeping me in debt right now!

No problem! And you're absolutely right that it turns into an expensive addiction! Especially when you can justify things by saying "It's 50% less than I'd pay in stores!" haha. The Internet is where I get all my clothes because there aren't many cute stores around here. Bah.

Its a relam of clothes - cant go into town but spend any disposable money on clothes - then rest on alcohol! :)
Totally off topic you get band of feathers ?

God I can't wait for that. I'll be fashionable again! The end of the exile!!!

I didn't...I was going to make one but couldn't find any feathers I like. Now I might buy one online, but they're 30 dollars which seems excessive. But what do you think? Too much?

    Headband one:

    doesnt sound much anyway
If you were to buy stratigially place and glue feathers .... - bought a couple feathers ages ago for colleage project and were 4 euros each!!

    Go for it!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,496 ✭✭✭LolaLuv

Yes, they're gaining in popularity here, they go with the whole vintage theme, I love it! Do you prefer the first one or the second set? I like the second set better but I like the smaller headband on the first.

MMmm you could ware the peacock one with loads i think and would look great with lots of different hair styles ....

Second one is something different though, and has a fab 20s feel to it but the colours may be a little unlike expected in reality - and thats after delimia of choosing one - limited hair styles

You ll have to choose by yourself - totally fab though!

I think you're right about the colors on the second one...doubtful they'd be that brilliant. Plus the first one's cheaper, so that one it is! Thank you!

Oh i love this one the best actually!! Are you in the States? Is everyone wearing them there?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,496 ✭✭✭LolaLuv

I am in the states, and I haven't seen a single person wearing them, but I'm also not in a civilized part of the states. I think they are catching on in the larger areas. Ok, I want to buy two of them, I'm going to start a separate thread so as not to incite the wrath of the mods!

I used the premium ones last week and the result is great. This is my second time using them in 2 years. First time I got them from ebay and this time I got them on an irish site called www.valueventure.ie for €25.

I've long been interested by teeth whitening, but have always been wary of possible bad effects it might have on the teeth!

I really want to get it done but am afraid the laser whitening thing could damage the roots and make my teeth weak?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,092 ✭✭✭pseudonym1

HAving a lounging day so went into my brothers room check out his dvd selection! What did I find in one of the bags with DVDS...??? A box of WHITE STRIPES !!!

I had mine done in Blackglen dentist in Sandyford. E400. Can't remember the name of the product now. Basically involved putting gel on your teeth, then having infra red light do something to them for an hour. Teeth look great now, many people have commented on them. Only problem is that all my photos from prior to the work have me looking like a yellow-toothed monster now, whereas I thought the pics looked great before :(

Did you get top & bottom done?

You could always photo shop your old pics :D. Think €400 is a bit pricey though. My teeth came out great with the crest whitestrips.

Hi all, I had the beyond treatment done at the White Smile Clinic in Ballsbridge and results were great and only €250, the dental nurse was really helpfull. She did say that Zoom was also a good treatment to have.

Has anybody used the Crest Whitestrips premium or pro? Are they freakishly white or ok?

    Thanks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 82 ✭✭cormicar

I have used crest premium and they are not freakishly strong but strong enough to give you a nice white smile. I got mine off the Value Venture online store. Just google it - I think their based in Dublin.

    Stick them on your teeth?

Which one to buy - Crest premeium €28 Daily €32 or Supreme €55.
    Do they really work?

Theres a place in Swords called the Whitehouse, heard em advertised on the radio

    They do it for €250

Im gettin them whitened after fillings [need 5! :(]

I go to Smiles but €450 is too much

Im gna ask could they discount it down to €300, since Im gettin loads done

Either way, Pearly whites on the way :D

I used the crest strips before, and yes, they're amazing, but they dont cover your whole teeth, whereas gel does

But if yer on a budget I'd defo recommend them!! :)

I got mine done in the Body Clinic about a year and a half ago. Money well spent! My teeth are still lovely and white after a year of coffee and sometimes smoking. I think you are much better off going and getting it done professionally rather than the home kits. Mine cost €300 and they used the Zoom in-house treatment. :)

Hi I just want to share my experience with this place. I wasnt impressed with the outcome, however it was a pleasant overall experience, they make you feel comfortable and put on nice music, However:-

When it was done, she asked me could I see the difference, and I said yes but this was only because the white laser light had still stunned my eyes, lol.

I went initially to get tea stains removed from my 2 front teeth, there were still there after the treatment. It was my own fault as the treatment was on special offer at 99 Euros for the treatment, I should of forked out and got proper job done.

After the procedure, I think there was still some bleach left in my mouth, and part of my gums turned yellow which really scared me but it faded the next day.

The treatment did not even whiten my teeth by even 2 shades. I was so let down and feel like I'd wasted my hard earned money. I thought that being that the place was in a central location it would have been good.

Prior to the treatment my teeth were kind of off white with some tea stains on front teeth. The stains were still there after the treatment, and then she said the stains must have been under the enamel or something.

For that treatment inparticular it looks like its only for people who already have white teeth but want to enhance then, the end result looks nowhere near the models shown on their adverts or website.

I'd love to get my teeth whitened properly but am afraid of getting it done again as it might weaken my enamel further.

I must also point out that after the treatment I developed tooth and gum sensitivity which I never had before.

I'd say to people in general to think hard before choosing where to get the treatment done.

    Take Care.
