Faldo hasn't dissapointed with his wild card picks. Those in the know were confident that the unrivalled ballbag should never have been trusted with the captaincy, and having only made one decision, already the European team are heading to Valhalla with low morale. Useless kunt, i hope they get beat.......poulter will probably shank it all over Kentucky. Big Darren was the man, and all the team knew it!

i agree that darren clarke should have been in the team instead of poulter. But he only has two picks and has to do what he feels right by. Darren can have no complaints, he failed to get on the team by merit.

I don't believe Faldo is useless but my take on him is. During his career he was a single minded individual who reminded me of Steve Davis in that neither had a personality until their careers were on the decline and both started to appear on television as pundits or sports quizzes. Then all of a sudden they both had a sense of humor and they started coming out of their shells. He has never been the most popular player even amongst the pro ranks. Azinger refered to this in a recent interview which was the start of the mind games. Past captains have stated that they knew his picks would be controversial and he has lived up to it. He is the best player on the european tour of the modern era but this does not make him perfect or an ideal choice as captain. Should be compelling viewing when the comp starts and having an insight to his team talks would be interesting.

I'm sure we all wanted Darren there but he didn't make the automatic cut and therefore can't really complain. These captain picks are always fuelled with disappointment and arguments. Remember the big Danes reaction to Woosnam last time?

If they lose, it will be a major screw up in everyone's eyes. If they win he got it spot on. No point disliking Poulter just because he got picked is there? Hardly reasonable behaviour....

Faldo is a legend. Nothing has changed based on 2 wild card picks. He is a single minded character who dominated for years and knows what he wants from the team. What's not to admire about the man? You may not like his style but he has earned the right to be captain.

Too many boring players about these days, look what has happened to snooker. Where are the new Sergios? It's essential to the team that Faldo will soak up all the criticism and deflect it from the team.... He can cope easily....

I can't wait to see how the drama unfolds.
