I'm after being drafted to oversee the construction of a 60m square mezzanine floor to be decked out as a showroom for our ahem glazing business.

I'm not overburdoned with construction knowledge and I'd appreciate any help with regard to the sequence of events/ disciplines etc.

Will need more details I'm afraid.
    What is the existing structure?
What height is the Mezz level?
What is the proposed length and width of the mezz?
What will happen on the mezz - lots of people or heavy glazing?

It really depends on proposed size and existing structure!

Please forgive my ignorance- I'll try to explain but you can correct me with the terminology.

Existing structure is a steel framed and panel clad unit that's about 5 years old.

The mezz will start at approx 2500 high and continue to roof height at approx 5m. Should be approx 8000 long by 8000 wide. Surrounded on 3 sides. It will be in the 'corner' of the unit but it will have existing block built offices on the third side. The 'front' will face onto the factory floor and will have curtain walling to for the partition as it will be used to demonstrate our commercial glazing and some glass options.

It will be used in part as office space and also as a showroom for a few PVC/ timber window and door samples. No heavy loading of any kind. Underneath, it will be used as a storeroom for the factory.

8m x 8m is quite a span, so timber joists will require steel beam at mid-span or 4m. Double slab ceiling if used as store - also check with local Fire Officer.
Curtain walls to 1st floor offices could also look well.

Steel column to support steel beam at 4m centres.
1st fix carpentry(joist, timber studs), plumbing ( radiator) and electrics (cables for sockets & lights).
Slabbing of store ceiling and mezz stud walls.(& slab ceiling to mezz units, if required)
2nd fix Carpentry, Electricts & Plumbing.
    Painting / decorating

You've done this before, haven't you! Many thanks, indeed.

Is it simply up to us to decide the best use of space with respect to regulations or is that what an architect is for??? I think we'd like to keep this as simple/ cost effective as possible so we'd like to avoid calling in Sisk!!!
