If a parent buys property are there any advantages to renting it to their children or even just letting their children live in it? I heard before that it can be advantageous to do so.

    How?
Its not their PPR, and unless its a registered tenancy (Part 4 or otherwise) as per the Residencial Tenancies Act- they are treated as investors from a stamp duty and mortgage interest relief perspective. Most of the loopholes relating to parents and children (or siblings/other close relations) were closed off in the 2004/2005/2006 Finance Bills.

If you are aware of advantages (other than free accommodation for the children), please let us know.
