So this is gonna be my first year living on campus (Hampstead) so just wanna know how some ppl find it??
Is the rule that stops u from having ppl over enforced much?? Do u really hav to kick ppl out of ur apartment at midnight?? Is it non smoking or whats the story??

Yes, the rule regarding having guests back after midnight is strictly enforced however if they're back before midnight then there'll be no problem. It's only for when people try to get people in after that that problems arise.

The smoking/non-smoking thing is really up to the people living in the apartment, it can be decided upon by yourselves.

    nice one thanks,
so if u hav ppl around before 12 its cool for them to sleep over?
    Whats the buzz like?

If you plan to have people over. You must pay.

Although security only start checking at 12, sometimes earlier on a Tuesday. So people can stay over if you get them in before that.

Lived on campus last year. Security are strict enough on bringing people over after 12 alright and will be really tight the first month or two. However, there is a security guard who will turn a blind eye from time to time, it's up to you to find out who ;)
Also, if you're desperate, it's pretty handy to hop over the gate between larkfield and hampstead as there wasn't any camera there last year and it's pretty dark there. As long as there is someone to keep look out it's easy enough.

As for living on campus, I lived in Hampstead last year (House 1) and the craic was unreal. The place is what you make of it though!

once they're in before 11.45 or that youd be sound, but I dont recommend hopping the fence, if yer mate is caught doing it, you get fined €80 - thats a few nights drinking money

Just convince the security that you live there. It's what I did in first year :)

If you plan to have people over. You must pay.

You have to pay..to have your boyfriend/girlfriend stay in YOUR apartment that you are paying substantially over the odds for?

I wouldn't bother with campus accommodation if that's how its run.

5euro a night. Has to be set up online by midday of that night. Or midday of Friday for the weekend.

It's retarded and one of the reasons i didn't live on campus.

looking at the counterarguement to the €5 charge and all, would a perfect alternative not just for the occupant to sign a legal form of responsibility for their guest. I think something similiar is done in trinity halls, you sign a form for your guest, thats all.......

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11 john_shaft

yeh, that sucks alright. I'd say its awful when u wanna hav a big sesh n ppl aren't able to crash in ur apartment.
Ah, il wing it when i get there, see how much i can get away with!
    Any advice??

Ground floor is win due to water pressure...You can fill a kettle much faster than the top floor and somehow that is important to me...

Just remember, larkfield is worse than a country village...news gets around fast unless you are one of the few that just seems to appear at a fire alarm...I remember a story last year flying round the place and in the space of a few hours EVERYONE heard it...

€3 for a wash and 50c for 25 minutes use of the dryer but that will dry fa usually. It's ok as long as it works. Few euros wasted last year with damaged machines.

There's one in the Hampstead spot, just left as you go in there. The other is across from the College Park Appts.

Thanx, I am staying at Hampstead so that should be convenient. The prices seem okay as well. :)

Yea, I am a postgrad, but living a postgrad apartment in the undergrad part!
It's for postgrads who only want a 9 month lease. I might just give em a ring in the morning.
