I have a quick question. I need a till but I'm light on space and I'd like to steamline things as much as possible. On my desk I'll have a computer, I was wondering if theres such a thing as an electronic cash drawer that works via USB? Something that I can hook up to the computer and use software to control?
OR failing that, is there sofware available that works like a till that will run on windows? Something that I can print receipts from and will tally up at days end etc?

Lost when it comes to this, thanks folks.

well i was working in retail for the last number of months, and all our tills were touchscreens running on windows,

to answer your question, yes there is software, but unfortunately i wouldnt know where to look for it.

Ring a well known retailers head office and ask their support or tech team perhaps?

There's JavaPOS(and here), a point of sale system written in Java, I'm not really sure if it's suitable or if you can get it for an "ordinary" desktop, but it's something to look into, at any rate.

Google POS and you'll find the software you need. Try www.inventise.ie or http://trcepos.ie or www.foxretail.net for example.
Alot of them use the Microsoft Retail Systems. My advice is to get someone who have their own POS software and can program their software to suit your needs. This software doesn't come cheap.
