Hi, I'm going to get started in airsoft, a few friends play at G-TAC and I've got the bug:D though never skirmished.

Anyway I've decided to be different and do a French Foreign Legion load out but I havn't seen anywhere in that has the Tokyo Marui Famas. Does anyone know a supplier that stocks them in Ireland?

    Any advice is welcome.

(I know TM Famas is old and people say it creaks and is a bit underpowered....but I love the Foreign Legion so I have to have it:cool:)

its a really good gun actually, its just the look of it that puts most people off it. I know that tony in eirsoft can get them and i was talking to mat in ATS recently, hes getting a few too.,
cybergun do a clone version of it aswell so ya dont have to go for the TM one.,

AirsoftEire.com do both the FAMAS F1 and the new G2 versions which TM call the SV.

Most guys I know have Armalite variants and MP5s, so I feel like I'm being a bit different:rolleyes:, even if it's just in my head. Nice to see other people have had the French idea. I'll go with the F1 model, as I want Legion equipment or as close as possible. The G2 is used by the French Navy.

I've only ever heard that only TM made a Famas for airsoft so I'll have to look at the cybergun model, Thanks

I think the Famas looks cool:cool:. Different strokes for different folks I guess. I'm not all that keen on the look of any of the AKs, don't start me on the SA80:eek:, but those are purely personal dislkies.

Thanks for the advice guys, I'd never known about airsoft eire. The only Irish website I knew about was Eirsoft, I'll have to do a bit more searching in future:o.

I have a TM Famas SV. There is absolutely no way to kill the damn thing (other than either falling on it or tryiing to upgrade it).

Whatever you hear about it being underpowered is rubbish. The hop unit in them is so good that even though it only hits about 265-280fps it will challenge most long rifles for range. Rate of Fire is absurdly high which makes it the business in support or assault roles and the bullpup configuration makes it usable in CQB.

It even has a spring release button so a you dont have to fire a few shots in semi to decompress the spring.

It does however have a couple of drawbacks.

    1) Proprietary mags, it wont take stanags unless you mod the mag itself.
    2) The magazine position can cause the release catch to get snarled releasing your mag and dropping it free of the magwell.
    3) It creaks horribly.
    4) It looks like a 1930's lunchbox.
    5) It's Belgian.

But in terms of a start up piece I couldnt reccomend the FAMAS highly enough.

Thanks, it's good to hear from someone who has one. Most of what I was hearing was based on reviews and hear say. I would mind the creaking, unless you notice it while in the middle of a skirmish.
