BT Ireland 24MB Painfully slow after 6pm

I recently upgraded to BT Ireland 24Mb connection from 3Mb. I get somewhere between a 17 and 20 Mb connection. I recently upgraded to BT Ireland 24Mb connection from 3Mb. I get somewhere between a 17 and 20 Mb connection.

I work from home and during the day the connection is fine, often downloading files at 1.4MB/sec.

After 6pm it's so slow that I can't use it, I get close to dialup speeds.

This happens every day, but it never happened when I was on the 3Mb connection.

Anyone else have this problem?

I would guess it's related to contention and the others in your area all trying to use their shiny new speeds too. More people on it = slower it goes.
