The terms "reasonably priced" and "Porsche" don't often feature in the same sentence but there's a guy in Kildare called Langridge Porsha that does this kind of stuff. Google him, he's got a website...

What part of the country are you in? If in the West, there's quite a few people.........but let us know.

If truth be known, the engine in the 924 is a VW unit, so anyone familiar with any '80's VW or Audi can do it for you - no need to pay daft prices to anyone.

Ditto for parts on that car - suspension is Mk1 Golf, so shocks, rubbers, discs, pads etc etc are all very very reasonable, and very easy to do, too....

Thanks mate but the 924s is the Porsche engine which is 2.5 litre.

DOnt know about the other suspension stuff you mentioned, but any info you can supply would be great such as pads and general consumables. IM in kildare but again if you know of anyone please post their phone number.

    thanks again for responding

924 is a VW enginer, irrespective, and uses VW parts all over. The reason is simple: it was a joint project between VW and Porsche, to be sold as VW with Porsche engineering, but VW pulled out, and they ended up sticking their own badge on it. Engine is based on the LT35 van.

All slightly irrelevant, because a VW garage, or mechanic, can do the belt. www.otto.ie or any factors, can get the parts.

you sure? I always thought the 2.0 was the VW/Audi engine but the 2.5 in the 924S was the Porsche engine from the 944. A new design and a departure from the old "van engine"...

koshmeister, I just remembered, look up Tom Fahy in Oranmore. Last time I was there he had a few Porsches around the place for customers. If anyone can do it, he can...

Mea Culpa - you are both correct, I was thinking 2.0.....yes, the 2.5 is the 944 job.

Still, a couple of small garages around here have done them, so no big deal. Small garage = smaller hourly rates.

In fact, my 968 is being looked at by one of them, today.

Belt retensioned - not sure how long it took, but I left it there when they opened, and called in around 11:30 and it was finished.

Oh, and he told me it was slack, too ! (To be expected - new one fitted 2k ago, and they require a retension at the 1.5k-2k mark), and......10k thereafter ?
