Just registered in fermoy to allow an extra hour in bed tomorrow. Don't like the look of the first km of the cycle/run. Steep. Legs are always very wobbly coming out of the water. Its my first competition but have covered the distance in training a couple times. Any last minute advice ??

No advice, but did it today too, thought the cycle and swim were ok but the run was hard. Pointless going uphill for 2.5 only to turn around and run back the same, especially as it's along the cycle route, a bit monotonous.

give them a chance, they're probably still picking up rubbish off the course. If the results don't appear by thursday you can hassle them then :-)

They had print outs of the results in the forge pub yesterday afternoon, I'd say it's just a question of finding them time to upload them. Roughly 12 mins between the waves.

probably still picking bodies off the course!

but i think posting results is something that the various triathlon organisers could get better at. Road race organisers have for years been adept at getting results out early. It's a positive thing. Keeps people buzzing and interested.

It's their first time ever running it, afaik, so you have to have a bit of patience with teething problems like this.

yeah, it's just a general comment. Thought the organisation was excellent otherwise .. A1 in fact. Well done to all involved.

I wasn't there but it was ambitious to have 400 people in a couple of waves in a relatively narrow river. I was glad to hear it all went smoothly. Given how popular triathlon is becoming, the more races we can have the better.

bit of confusion as to the exact start line for phase 1. kayaks were a bit slow lining up. I got caught at the front and spent the first 100m being battered. Not as bad as I had been warned so def won't be put off by my first experience of mass open water swimming.

was aiming for under 1hr30 and I think I may have broken 1hr25.

I thought the organisation was excellent even though I have no previous experience to compare with. Well done to all involved in blackwatertri :D

results were emailed out last night and are on the Blackwater website also. Interesting reading.

The swim times were very fast with that current. But it was hardly 750m, was it??

about 600m according to the race ref, the rest was down to the flow assistance.

Thought the swim was short alright, the current and the crowd made it much of a muchness.
