Lets make like kids and use our imagination lads.
I've just won the Lotto, and being the incredibly generous soul I am I've given ye all €5000 each, on the provision that it's spent only on instruments or anything that will benefit you and/or your band.
So it could be a new guitar(s), lessons, a new PA system for your band or a trip to a recording studio, new lighting/smoke machine/lasershow set up etc.

For me it'd be a new custom ordered Bacchus Tele and Strat, both ash bodied, and both with p90's at the bridge, with tone and volume control for each pickup. Some guitar and vocal lessons. A Z-Vex nano head and a Digitech Live Vocalist2 vocal processor and a decent digital 8 track recorder. The rest would be spent on sound proofing the bedroom
a bit (for loud guitar reasons only;)) and some top quality leads, real audiophile stuff.

    Now go, spend spend spend...

€5000 eh? Hmm, I could get a Mesa Road King combo but then I'd only have €900 left. I think I'd go for a nice Engl head and a 2x12, an ESP Eclipse II or M II and get some lessons to tighten up my non-existant musical knowledge

some sort of new amp, preferably a soldano or diezel, a fender hot rod 212 amp... and a custom gutiar and a g force :)

    thats sometihng like 5k!

Hmmm personally I might get a new bass amp. Have an Ashdown ABM, wouldn't mind one of the old Ampegs if what I hear about them is to be believed. Would love to try a Bacchus Jass.

For the band, recording time would be useful. Money spent on promoting our EP, but most of all I'd like a roadie. Somebody who will pack all our shít up, drive it around for us, set it up on stage. That would be awesome and well worth the €5k.

A mesa amp for definite! Havent narrowed down which one though :) A high end Ibanez or a musicman! :) OR BOTH!!! then probably spend the rest on our E.P :)

Here's what I would spend the €5K on...

new guitar (LP Jr.), extra bass cab (1x12 neo), Weber 5E3 Deluxe amp kit, some sound proofing and the rest on musical lubricant! :D

I would get this, and this.

That leaves 1200. I'd get an overdrive pedal and a wah pedal. Then get lessons for some theory and and also just to become a better player. So you'd be getting some of your hypothetical money back boycey. Or maybe buy some new pups and put them into my Epi Les Paul Custom and have a back up

Henman-Bevilaqua B4 in their dark green.

Whatever's left over on a quality practice amp.

Really? They're extremely overpriced and bland. They have EMG-Hz's also!! For that money you'd think they'd wind their own pickups or use a good brand.

    5000 plecs.

In all seriousness though, i'd buy that Chuck Shuldiner Stealth for sure and the best system I can get to run my Podxt through.

And a sh!t load of strings.

    You'd need a sight more than €5,000!

I'd buy a handmade Fender or Fender-alike amp and a Custom Shop Tele.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 7,943 Mod ✭✭✭✭Yakult

I'd get 50 fender squiers and have each one a different tuning lol.

The price is coming down a lot, plus I'd buy it from the us, no tax and shipping. It realy dosn't work out much diferent than any high end bass.
They also use active-pre's now if you want, and will make you one with any pickups, if you ask them, probably an upcharge though.

I supose personal taste coms in a lot, like the fact that I despise Foera's etc.

    Anyway, I like HZ'z too!:D

I don't like Fodera's either really but HenBev's are even worse!

Eye of the beholder I suppose!

A Korg MicroKorg and A Roland SH-101. Something to play them through as well i suppose...

Also, a guitar. A JS or a Jem. The Vai Jem would be nice, that would mean all my moeny would be gone so no :p And an amp. No idea what one. Something big and loud anyway. Also a flanger and a wah.

I'd buy a Metal lovin' bass player :(

Other than that... now that they're making them again, another Bacchus Empire for the dropped A tunes, a backup Ampeg VH-140C and a truckload of 13's :D

BTW, thanks for the cash Boycey, you're a gent :p

I'm at an absolute loss as to what I'd want.

I don't know if there's an item of gear out there that I'd have any interest in getting, because I can't imagine an amp that's better or more versatile than my Invader, or a guitar that I'd want more than my Petruccis... At a push, I could probably go for a better FX setup than my Pod, so this fellow would be a step up.

Then I'd use the rest of the money to set up a boards.ie instruments board string fund, so that we'd all have strings for a lifetime.

I'd pay off the gear I ready own!!!

    Why thankee boycey.

Hmm, would definitely go for the extra-super-sound-proof soundproofing :pac:
Then I'd get me a tube amp, don't know which one, cos I never had the chance to play one :(. How sad is that :(

With the change I'd get us all pished and provide some nice finger food :pac:

I'm a metal lovin' bass player although I don't really play much metal...lol

So lads, some pretty sensible choices all round (apart from Doc's human trafficking of Metal loving bass players!)
I was really expecting a few custom made LED encrusted lazer spitting 7 pickup 9 string behemoths. Now, where do I post all these imaginary cheques to....
