What to do!

    So here’s the thing…

There’s a girl I work with, or to put it another way, a girl in work because we don’t actually work together, she just happens to be there at the same time as me and I see her and she sees me and we say hello every now and then and have a small chat maybe about…oh I dunno, where to get the best curry or battered sausage of a night. Anyway, I like her. Not in a, you’ll-do-for-a-good-time-Sally kind of way, she’s cute, really nice and I could see myself on her. Of course I mean getting on with her…

    That was three months ago.

I’m useless in those situations so once I noticed how nice she was, it started to get awkward in that, I started not being able to have a normal conversation with her without wanting to blurt out, “I think you’re really cool, can we go out some time?”

So I started keeping conversations short, and then shorter. Then sometimes I’d pass where she works and she’d wave but because I’d built up this fear of talking to her in my head, I was barely able to manage a wave back! It was getting out of control!! Then one or two ‘unfortunate incidences’ occurred when I was walking past one day with someone else and I didn’t notice her waving or saying hello, so, I didn’t say anything back!!

    BALLS!!

So my question is… Not so much, how do I get over myself and ask her out, but how do I mend the ‘wave relationship’ and in time restore some normality to the situation and bring back the good old days of casual friendly chats about nothing!

    Thanks!!

    TBT

The easy answer is that when you next have the opportunity to talk to her, ask her if she fancies a drink or a coffee. You still seem keen enough, despite this "waving relationship" you have going. If she says "yes" then you have the chance to get back to chatting about nothing or perhaps it might develop into something more. If she says "no", then perhaps there is no hope.

It's better to have tried and failed than not tried at all and end up regretting missed chances.
