Is anybody going to Photovision Roadshow in Dublin?
Just to know who could be there. And who needs a lift from Tallaght area.

I will be going for the full day also. Will bring the camera
to have it cleaned for sure.

I plan to go to as many talks as possible throughout the
    day.

Is this a good event to go for us mere amateurs to learn or is it more a pro tradeshow? I wouldnt mind going if i thought i would learn a few things but its a long way from Mayo!

Just registered. Can't make it until 5pm though - on the way home.

If you see a guy walking around with a "Star of Life" logo (like you see on ambulances, upright staff with snake winding round it) on his backpack, give me a slap round the head or something to get my attention :D

Will defo bring my new (ebay) camera for a cleaning.

I'm going and I'm not a pro at all.
I find some of the topics for the talks very interesting and plan
    to go to those.

Also need to get the camera cleaned and talk to the guys from Drobo.

Keith, you probably know the answer to this one, Is it just the Event Photography seminars that have to be pre-booked?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,263 ✭✭✭✭Borderfox

Yeah thats all that has to be prebooked

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,699 ✭✭✭ThOnda

Who's going at what time, and does anyone want to get a coffee while there? I don't think I'd hang around for a full day, but am undecided between morning and afternoon at the moment - I'm heading in favour of afternoon at the moment.

Oddly, I've never been to Croke Park. Is there parking there does anyone know?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,699 ✭✭✭ThOnda

Accordingly to my ticket there should be parking off the North Circular Road to St. Margaret's Avenue.
Personally, I'll try to get there in the morning to the first Gowan's seminar.

ThOnda, unless you've booked the seminars, they're all booked up for the morning. I'm gonna make a call to the organisers first thing this morning to see can I book any of the afternoon one's as I didn;t realise we had to book them.

As for Coffee - Can I suggest that we meet at the coffee bar (I dunno where but there won't be that many) after the "Lighting on Location " seminar at 3pm or before it at say 2pm

I can't figure out where to book the seminars, but interested in the Lighting on Location one as well - I'll send you a PM, but if you're talking to them would you mind reserving a spot for me too?

Coffee at 2 then? I'll be the one with a camera - it'll be easy to find me ;)

Just phones to check availability on spaces for teh afternoon workshops - unfortunately I could not get hold of the person looking after the event as she is in guess where - Dublin. So it what ever you can get when you get there .

Oh for those of you looking for the phone number it's tucked at the bottom of the Event Photography listing in small bold writing.

I am back quite a long time. I have missed the Guy Gowan's seminar because I am not used to the traffic after spring break. Public transport, ffs!!!
And back to the topic. I have seen nice prints, awful frames and albums, nice albums, cleaning cameras and absolutely bored models.
Very interesting was Canon seminar on E-TTL II flashes.
And of course, it was nice to meet nice and familiar faces.

The model on the Canon stand looked like she would rather be anywhere else.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,699 ✭✭✭ThOnda

And I do believe that you mean anywhere by saying anywhere.

I have to say I enjoyed the experience. The model on the Nikon stand looked equally board - head this way, hand that, up a little slightly sideways, oh how this was not the event she wanted to be at either !!

I met Thoie there, couldn't see any body else, then again I didn't know any other faces :o.

I made it to the Guy Gowan talk in the afternoon - amazing man. I didn't realise how much of a retouch man he was until today. As he said himself of the female head he was transposing, she was a model who was posing for underware, so he head was not important as it was not in the shot. No makeup, not lit ... just there. He then proceeded to tone up her face, redened the cheek bones, brought out the eyes, took out the wrinkles and gave her some eye shadow, all with the touch of a brush - without any paint !! All done through split toning and masks. What an education - Thoie & others - you missed this !!

And my big purchase of the day - not not a D700, but a waterproof cover for the camera for €15.00. The auld plastic bag can now be dumped :D

    Thanks
    Paul
