Skype issue

    Hi all,

I'm pretty "tech-savvy", so to speak, and have tried the most common solutions (reboot/reinstall), but I can't resolve an issue with Skype. It was working fine until the other day, but now, the other end can hear me, but I can't hear them. I have noticed that Skype actually makes none of it's usual sounds.

Has anyone experienced this before and found a solution? Or is there another program I can use to VoIP someone who probably wouldn't know how to install another program(ie I can call their Skype account)?

    Thanks

Have you tried the microphone on your headset? or handset..

Have you tried calling echo123, and recording something to hear if anything is played back to you?

You don't state what o/s you are using. If you are using Windows, can you listen to RTE Radio 1 by clicking on the listen live link on this page?

Have you tried recording something using windows sound recorder to see if it it plays back?

If your sound card set-up doesn't pass these "tests", it is not a Skype problem. Go into your sound setup in control panel, and check the levels - some bug may have reset them to lowest settings.

If that doesn't sort it out, call your PC support if your sound card tests don't pass, or contact Skype support if your sound card checks out OK.
