When I write or try to work on a book, in my opinion I use dialogue too much. As in, people are frequently talking somehow. I've tried to stop doing this, and I'm not even sure if it's relevant. I don't know if other people would read it the way I do, if you get me. Readers might not think there was too much, and that's the difficult thing. The only way of getting some idea of this is sending an entire manuscript to someone which I'm not ready to do yet.

Also, I tend to work through things quite quickly, as in hop from event to event, etc, etc, and I have no idea how to fill in the gaps..

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks :)

Dialogue is normally the guts of any novel. Without reading your MS nobody can offer an opinion.
A lesson in dialogue and character construction can be had by reading 'Cannery Row' by Steinbeck.
If you are finding fault with your own work you need to read more books of the genre you are working on.
Don't give up; just take a break, read a good book and then go back to your own project.
    I hope that helps.
    Regards,
    Chris.

Agree that you need to read more. Why do you think that you can't fill in the gaps, is there enough source material to do so with? If you went the complete other way and didn't have any dialogue, would you still have a good story?
