sure it rained all summer anyhow so wouldnt make much difference in the winter:D
plus to be honest if we are all dressed up on parade id rather be out in the cold than stand in 20+ degree weather whilst sweating like john terry on a penalty spot

More than likely Jim, MGH said that going casual was frowned upon, so it'll be shirt and tie for me!:D

Wear a suit guys and similar office type clothing for the girls....They are watching you from the start guys, so make a good impression.

As you will see from the moment your guests leave the assembly hall, that you have joined a disciplined organisation...They will batter it into you from the start, so be prepared..

Look forward to meeting you all, we'll be there with the green shoulders!!:D

aye shirt and tie. the whole nine yards so to speak.

finished my job last saturday:D been trying my best to train all week. not going well. running was never my strong point. i was a postie and walked miles everyday with a bag on my back so im not unfit but theres a huge difference in walking it and running

what colour are we going to be new recruit?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 144 ✭✭jim2008

Shirt and tie it is then:( Are you all bringing guests?

"..finished my job last saturday:D been trying my best to train all week. not going well. running was never my strong point. i was a postie..."

Try not to let the drill staff know you used to be a postie, trust me on this...

Good afternoon Fiacmar, you say not to let the DS know that you were a postie, very true, but equally as important for new recruits to try and hide/disguise any previous military experience also as it may bring with it unwanted attention. for example....... A member of the Greens who had recently spent the previous 3 weeks building friendships had it dashed within 3 minutes after he was required to note the names of fellow SO's for show parade - not a nice experience.:o

****ty situation mate, but nobody blames you, its not like you were deciding who got put up. 'Course, it'll be different when you're made squad leader, you be rightly hated then! :D
Still no idea who "new recruit" is then?! PM one of us man! (Or woman...)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6 duckster

Rightly or wrongly Fiacmar, however It be a fool who'd take on responsibilty as SL. Afterall when formed up on parade a good SL would need the mathmatical ability to count in 3's. However being SL would have its advantages, your name would always be in the book for comments like that. You have been warned lol:p

How did everyone find the SRN? A lot ot stuff to take in but well up for it now after seeing round the place. Makes you feel good too seeing all the other people in training standing smiling all the time, must be fed well.. :D

Oh might just add the definition booklet was a bit of shock, never expected them to be so long but getting stuck in to it now so hopefully I have time to know them

No worries. Damien Dempsey sings a song called "Spraypaint Backalley" where he sings about kids off their heads on glue etc lying in the gutter looking up at the stars! Classic. Check him out you might like him! www.damiendempsey.com .

Congrat on getting a start date. Good luck & Enjoy!

Gook Luck to all the "Blues" starting tomorrow from all the "Greens"....

Be there no later than 8.30am...Listen to what the trainers tell you, lots of the general rules and stuff are given on the Sunday, you will need to remember them to keep yourselves right..

Good luck with Staff AB...Don't give him any reason to dislike you;)
