First floor ceiling insulation

I live in a semi D with 9 foot ceilings upstairs. I was thinking of fitting insulated plaster slabs on the ceilings to improve the insulation. I currently have under-tile polyurethane spray (which improved things), some fibreglass but not enough in the rafters (which did not do much). I have an attic conversion (built with the house ) which means attic insulation is next to impossible.

    Is this a daft idea?

What thickness insulation would be best?
