Multiple photo grid

Ok I have two images and I want to make a collage/grid with just these two images.

I have 2xA3 (ish) size files and I want
1xA2, but I want to have a large white boarder separating them and from the side of the Image

I am just wondering what is the best way to do this, to get them lined up exactly right etc, I know I can blend layers etc etc, but I want something that is exactly right, rather than moving it by hand.

Can someone tell me what I should be searching for? I tried photo collage, and that seemed to be blended photos, then tried a grid, again most of tutorials were around creating an graphics grid, rather than a 'table' like grid

    Kinda like below.

There wont be much space left for the white boarder
    if you are doing this.

If it was me I would just make a large canvas in photoshop
that was A2. Then add the other 2 photos as separate layers
and turn the grid on and align them to that.
