Warranty question....

Bought a 70-200mm from kerso last month, it needs to be calibrated and the warranty is US/Canada.

I'm heading to NY next monday and I'm thinking about bringing it over and seeing if I can get it calibrated over there with the warranty. Will my US warranty work over there with a UK invoice to go with it and a hotel address? Or should I try pay for calibration and hope to recieve it before I leave?

How long does a calibration usually take?

Sorry to butt in, but how do you know it needs to be calibrated ??

I also bought a 70-200 (2.8 IS) from Kerso at the end of June, and I'm really happy with it. But, just wondering what are the symptoms of a lens that needs cal. Is it focussing issues ?? Does the lens alone need to be cal'd, or does it get "matched" to the body ??

Focusing is fine, there's a lot of blurring at the right side of a photo, not as much on the left and it's just ok in the middle.

I made up a test chart and shot it at different apertures, with different lenses. I posted about it a while back.....

Are you sure you just got a US/Canada warranty? He normally gives international ones.
There was a thread here a long time ago about how Canon Ireland did not have the mental ability to understand
what international meant but that Canon UK accepted it in the end.

I don't believe that Canon Ireland would be able to get the lens back to you calibrated before Monday.
They usually have to send the items to Canon UK for any work. I think their official turnaround is 10 days.
My 40 D took over a month and there are other threads here detailing their impressive skills in this regard.

    Me bitter, never :).
