Well I checked yesterday and ticketmaster genuinely didn't have tickets, however I'm not ruling out that this is a ploy.

Anyway I hope this promotion does actually sell out, we need more succesful promotions to encourage promoters to stick at it. Hopefully Tommy Egan hasn't been too discouraged by his first attempt.

No opponents on boxrec yet. Anyone any idea about the opponents? I presume Perez is headlining?

I reckon Neil Sinclair will be the headline, went to book tickets there and was pleasantly surprised to see his name listed as one of the guys fighting.

The opponents will probably be crap but that's what you expect with small promotions. I've gone with the cheapest tickets so my view will probably be crap but considering the size of the promotion and that I wanted to convince a few friends to go €25 isn't bad for a ticket.

    So far we have:
    Neil Sinclair v ?
    Mike Perez v ?
    Gary O'Sullivan v ?
    Jamie Power v ?
    Alexei Acosta v ?
    Luis Garcia v ?
    Ian Tims v ?
    Michael Sweeney v ?

They said they were going to increase the level of Perez's opposition, and I hope that is the case. In truth the first 4 guys he fought were far too easy and it's only right for him to step up. Someone like Lee Swaby would be a good test.

Normally I'd think someone like Paul king would be the right option after the very easy opposition he has faced it would actually be a considerable step up. However I think Perez needs to be tested otherwise he'll get bored, I think that's what happened in his last fight when he realised he could blow the guy away easily if he really wanted. He seemed to be getting rounds too.

Someone like Lee Swaby would be the perfect opponent for him and carries enough danger to keep Perez interested through the full fight.......or else he could be waking up with bright lights in his eyes and his arse firmly on the canvas. However Swaby is fighting in the next Prizefighter the night before in Newcastle.

Sinclair is obviously quite a way past his best, but he still has ambitions of regaining the British title so fights like this are necessary for him at the moment. He still punches very hard and obviously is the same smart fighter he always was but his chin was always shaky and the lightening speed is nowhere to be found. He used to rely on his speed and reflexes and unfortunately for him these are often the first things to go.
On the positive side of things he's still decent to watch, but I reckon one more loss and it'll be the end of Sinclair's career.

I've heard good things about both Gary O'Sullivan and Jamie Power, and it'll be interesting to see the other two Cubans aswell. If their amateur career is anything to go by they'll be pretty damn good.

Will this be on TV? I wonder if the small shows could strike a deal with some of the smaller digital channels like nuts tv or the fight network if rte/tv3 isnt an option?

No it's not on TV, one of the reasons I'm going. Ya you'd think getting this shown on something like Nuts or the Fight Network would be a good idea. Maybe even try TG4 aswell.

It would give the promotion a small bit more investment and might be able to generate some better opposition due to more money. The card involving the Hyland's at the City West is also an interesting one that would be nice to have on a smaller newtwork.

Bad news for you Big Ears, Sinclair won't be fighting in Cork. I've heard he's on the welterweight prizefighter instead in late October so isn't fighting in Cork. Still don't know anything about the opposition for the rest of the card.

As for Paul King, he won't be fighting anyone for a long, long time. He got locked up for the rape of 3 women and got a life sentence late last year.

I had heard he could be part of that alright, ah well at least if he's not going to be on the bill it'll be for another decent opportunity. Some decent names are getting thrown about for the Welterweight version of prizefighter; Sinclair, Kevin Anderson, Michael Lomax, Jason Cook, Willie Thompson, Ross Minter, Craig Dickson, Ted Bami. If that was the 8 that turn out it would make for some tournament. The winner would deserve to be British mandatory.

Forgot about that thing with King, so many boxers are involved in stuff like that, that you just forget who did what.

No hype about this one at all it seem. Not even down here with our man boxing. The PR certainly isn't up and running yet - if it ever gets up and running. *Chicky holds up her hand, I'm in PR I'll take over and do the PR!*

Raging I'm missing it :( It clashes with our co. hurling quarter final at 6.15 that night :( Not impressed. Was looking forward to seeing Jamie Power again. He's not on the bill with Perez the next fight in October in Killarney .... he's must be holding out for the Andy Lee undercard, should it be here

    some info on the bill.

Apparently 1,500 of the 1,700 tickets available have been sold and 200 people have been watching the Cubans spar every night for a spell of 10 days.

Looks an ok bill but hard to know how good the Brazilian will be that Perez is in with although I suppose he could be Brazil's Breidis Prescott, unlikely but you never know!

The other 2 Cubans seem to have decent pedigree as well so it will be interesting to see how they fare out.

P.S. Anyone know who the Cubans have been sparring with (aside from Julius Francis)?

I wonder if his team have any info on the brazilian to suggest Perez can take him, and equally as importantly that he wont get knocked out. IMO its a gutsy decision even if the guy has only fought fellow novices and guys with losing records...so has Perez. Would definitely like to see that.
But cant make it down and its not on tv:mad:

As I pointed out the only place quite as notorious as Colombia for setting up high ko records is Brazil. I'm not expecting much from this guy but all I'd ask is that he is a step up from the last 4 guys and I'm okay with it.

The article also mentions Perez was sparring with Scott Gammer who made a comeback recently. Julius Francis and Scott Gammer is actually very good sparring for an up and coming heavyweight, especially in a country like Ireland where any few heavyweights we do have are normally based abroad.

I'm gonna make sure I get there right from the start because I really want to see these two other Cubans.

Anybody else think that the show was a disastor?
