Hi, Got done this morning in a Kelloggs Crunchy Nut lane.

I know, I know...stupid idea but I was running late and took the chance so not interested in all the high horse comments.

Anyway, from what I can tell it is a Fixed Charge Offense but not subject to Penalty Points as per this link:

    4th from the bottom....

    http://www.rotr.ie/accidents-gardai-and-penalties/penalty-points-fixed-charge-offences/index.html

    Can anyone confirm?

It may well come under "Failure to comply with traffic lane markings", but that's not in force yet.

Well there is the penalty point offence of "failure to comply with traffic lane markings". But I'm not sure if they can charge you under this when a more specific offence exists.

PS: /gloats at OP for getting caught :p

Now this would be worthy way of having 2points:
Driving a vehicle on a motorway against the flow of traffic 2points 4points €80 €120:eek:.

Ok ok only messing you on the high horse down now please.

I thought it was a penelty point offence. But doesn't say on the rotr site, so your left guessing. Hard luck for getting caught, god loves a tryer:p. My reasoning for not doing it i your running late, you'll be runnng later if the fuzz stops you.

Id say they can get you for not obeying road markings or crossing white line.

My old boss got 1 point for stopping in a bus lane (after the Garda pulled him in, for making an illegal left turn. Ended up with 3 points as a result!)

Would 'Failure to comply with prohibitory traffic signs' be the one??

It will all depend on the charge that the garda wrote down at the time!
Did the garda explain the offence to the OP or did they mention the prospect of getting points?
