I really shouldn't, but circumstances have made it a possibility as opposed to the impossibility it was yesterday. Hmmm.

Tournie schedule sticky lists this as an 8pm start - is that correct, or has it changed to 8.30pm as above?

Fitz EOM was very good last night I went out late but was never in the running anyway, . I did get AA early on though….(Kodak moment) It must be the best EOM in the country. I just wish it was on a Friday.
Played Omaha but got rivered by a 2 for quads for a nice tasty pot by a certain high up in the fitz baldy gent…... His quacking afterwards was quite impressive, it was loud, it was annoying and very lifelike……… it sounded like a drake getting raped ., when it fact it was me . I didn’t reload, .well when ya run into quads 2s (again) ya kinds want to get in da car and listen to Mozart. Those ducks followed me everywhere last night and then they gang up on me in the cassh game... …I should have noticed what they were up to...off to buy a shotgun for duck season

ollyk1, are you suggesting that the tutor on the upcoming Fitzwilliam poker couse is anything other than a true expert at the noble game?;)

18th for me in my first tourney in 2008. Twice saved by the river with about 30 players left, but rag2gar put me out - my KK v 99.
Saw my hand shaking when I bet my AA early on. :o

    Week 2
    • Position is 9/10ths of the Pot
    • Hand selection based on position
    • Pre-flop strategy (Tight / Loose)
    • Post-flop strategy (Tight / Loose)
    Limping for value

    :)

Last night was the first time in 2 weeks I have been in.

Was in last weekend only myself Dom
My E.O.M. tournament was short and sweet
My table compared to some was relative easy enough. Played tighty mictight and headed into the break with 200 chips short of starting stack. Flopped set twice and did continuation bet but got no callers meh.

After the break I got a guy to fold a straight when I bet 3K into a pot on the river representing a flush, he folded but was visibly steaming (think he thought I was going to show my hand)
Next hand he is in the big blind (blinds 100 200) and I do the standard raise to 800 in MP with pocket jacks,
he announces all in and f*cks his chips in the middle (5,300)
At this stage there is steam coming out of his ears.
I know he definitely doesn't have KK QQ or AA here, because he does the old nutmeg minraise with monster hands.
I think about it quite long and hard and decide the worst im up against is
AQ AK, and hope I up against lower pocket pair and call.

He turns over AK, and were off to the races.

Flop is A 10 2 Followed by fistpump,

King on the turn, two fist pumps by him. River no help and im down to 3K.

couple of hands later Pat Vickers raises to 900 on the button, im in the BB and see pocket 9's and shove, he instacalls and turns over AQ

    Flop is K J 3

Turn is 10 to have me drawing dead, gg wp etc., etc.,

Decided that I was not really in the form for cash and headed home. Again a great tournament, but you definitely need to win your races and I ain't no Usain Bolt, cause I can't win one bleedin race at the moment...

smurph i don't like your raise size with the relative size of the stacks, i much prefer a raise between 500-600, you ask the same question and risk less chips, it also leaves you wit less difficult decisions later in the hand!

for the raise size i jus like risking less of my stack to take down the blinds and when you do get called the pot is smaller and any future bets is again a smaller % of your stack, it depends on your style whether your a longball or smallball player

i don't like the call wit JJ for 22.5BB's cause its too early to be racing for 63% of your stack, if his range is AA-88 and AKs-AJs and AKo-AJo you only have 54.5% equity against his range. so you are risking 63% of your stack and it wil only increase by 39% and 54.5% and 45.5% of the time you lose 63% of your stack which is not good!

i know there is history and he is steaming but he seems like a reasonably competent player if he can recognize you wer reping a flush,

    i find different opinions help . . . .

Your stack size% has no bearing on the equity. You are comparing numbers which are meaningless. With the read Smurph gave this is such an easy snap call

Smurph played both hands fine see no problems with either. As she says you have to win your races sometimes.
