If I'm correct, they are about 2 years old and overlook the Grand Canal, within the campus.

They should be reasonably secure from the local scumbags, but not the student scumbags. :)

Avoid it if at all possible! The location is pretty ok for trinners but the accom in my opinion is way over priced for what you actually get. Im in UCD and my other friends were in other colleges including trinity when we lived there and we got nothing only heartache. The apts are small and dingy-i could tell you stories about the place that would make your skin crawl-defo not worth it. For instance we had no hot water for a whole month and the handyman visited id say 100 times before he finally and reluctantly i may add agreed to replace the imersion(which solved the problem). The place is still haunting me as they simply wont return our deposit. Its an absolute Joke!!!!!! PM me if you have any questions but I would only live there as a last resort!

That doesn't sound too good...and I think we've pretty much finalised it :(. I think we can handle cold water, though - thats what bording school does to you ;)

i'm staying there this year, the apartments are small, and its like 660 a month but that includes all other bills, the area is really nice and its 25mins walk to trinity or like 10 on a bike, the thing about the handyman, like if you were livin in a rented house somewhere the same thing could happen you cos plumbers etc. always do that crap cos they are lazy! well some are, some aren't, and not gettin your deposit back? well that could happen anywhere! that persons problems sound like they could happen in any house or apartment!
dont knock griffith halls just cos one group of people had a bad time there!

Yeah I went to see it the other day. No oven, how wierd is that? But it doesn't look bad. Boys and girls are in completely different buildings, i thought that was a bit wierd too. I mean, I don't mind and i'm glad the actual apartments aren't mixed but it's just kinda wierd.

I guessing that's because the college has a large muslim population? I think for certain things (for example, praying at the mosque) the men and women need to be seperated. This probably applies to accomodation.

In response to Jongaffers comment! I hope you have a pleasant experience with the griff accom but if you do you will most certainly be among a small minority. Harsh but true. Every single person i know that was there thought it the biggest rip of ever and coincidently are all still awaiting the return of their deposit which at this stage looks unlikely. Also the area is pretty dodge dont walk alone there at night-we had some bad experiences.

I stayed there last year and found it quite secure and comfortable for the price. A few maintenance issues but nothing serious. Havn't had deposit back yet either but refered to lease and they're still within the time frame for issuing it apparently.
In my first under graduate year I house-shared with 2 others off campus and had a torrid time with the landlord. Deposit was retained, windows were broken that were never fixed and on top of that the flat was broken into twice. Had my xbox nicked first time and every DVD in the house was ripped the second time. When I was in Griffith the fact that there were security guards on duty around the clock certainly put my mind at ease from the off.

Having stayed there last year, and again this year, I found the place to be great, there was a few issues with the water heater, but this was resolved when I brought it to the attention of the office there.

Avoid it if at all possible! The location is pretty ok for trinners but the accom in my opinion is way over priced for what you actually get.

I think this a bit exaggerated, the place has 24 hour security and there great for letting you in when you've forgotten your key, would you get this off campus, I think not.. Outside the campus is like any where else in Dublin, once you have a savy head on you, you'll be grand.

It's an ideal place to stay when you 1st come to Dublin and I have to say the bit about the deposit not being returned to you,
coincidently are all still awaiting the return of their deposit which at this stage looks unlikely.

I too am awaiting my deposit, but when I rang them they expalined to me that as per the lease I signed that they were still within their time to allocate back to me. so cant complain there.

SO yes I would recommend the campus at griffith, and like anywhere it's what you make of it that is the important thing. but dont worry you'll like it.

Lived there in first year (Im going into 4th year now...) and really liked it. It's a bit annoying for gettin to ucd. We were lazy so got the 19/122 to college green, then the 10/46a to ucd. Some days the traffic down harrington st. would be a standstill. Much better of walking down that street. Get the 46a to leeson st. then walk past st. stephans green down harrington st. The place is fairly strict though and not any parties going on. We lived on the top floor, lovely and toastie.

Came home from college one day to find my bed had being pulled out from the way and there was sawdust EVERYWHERE. The cheeky c*nts came in and put restrictors on the windows without letting us know! Had to clean the room up myself. However, we found a way to get them off....;)

not a bad place. kinda small but clean....when i lived there anyway, dont know about now
